Frequently asked questions
Does an expat pay taxes in Mexico?
Broadly speaking, anyone working in Mexico is taxed here on that work, and their situation depends on whether they are considered a Mexican tax resident and on the tax treaty with their home country, if there is one. We review each case before calculating payroll.
What if part of the salary is paid from abroad?
That payment can also have tax consequences in Mexico. That is why we review the entire compensation package, not just what is paid here.
Does the expat need to be registered with the IMSS?
It depends on how they are employed and whether there is a social security agreement with their home country. We review it at the start of the assignment.
Can you assist the expat in English?
Yes. Our partners work in English and Spanish, with both the company and the assignee.
